My Inky Friends Time to Sale-a-brate! Blog Hop: Home to Roost by Staci

Welcome to the My Inky Friends blog hop for Stampin’ Up! Sale-a-bration 2019!  Today I am showing the “Home to Roost” stamp set (149736).  This red rubber cling stamp set includes 6 stamps and is FREE with a $50 purchase during the dates of January 3 – March 31, 2019.Here are the projects that I was inspired to create with our rooster friend.

To start us off in the wee hours, here is our rooster greeting the dawn.  I stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black for the rooster and the milk can from the “Country Home” Photopolymer set (147678), which is on the carry-over list from the 2018 Holiday Catalog and works so well with “Home to Roost.”  I stamped on Shimmery White cardstock and colored in the sunrise scene with Stampin’ Blends markers.  I stamped the plant stems last, again in Memento Tuxedo Black. The card was finished with a layer of Wood Textures 6x6 DSP on a base that is Mango Melody.  A bow finishes it off made with another FREE Sale-a-bration product – the Organdy Ribbon Combo Pack (129623).

For the next card, I was inspired by all of the great rooster postage stamps that there have been.  I added some supplies from another FREE Sale-a-bration option, the Precious Parcel Card Kit (149750). I stamped the rooster image only on Whisper White cardstock with Real Red ink and on Real Red cardstock with Versamark ink, which I then heat embossed with White embossing powder.  I used the Big Shot with the smallest square die from the Stitched Shapes Framelits to cut these out into four squares of “postage.”  Next, I used the two pieces that you see on the right from the Precious Parcel Card Kit – one is the inside of an envelope that I opened up and cut for a layering piece, and the accent piece shown that I trimmed and placed my “postage” on top of.  I tied a piece of the twine, added a small paperclip, and stuck on the “sending a note” adhesive decoration – all from the Precious Parcel Card Kit.  The card is mounted on a base of Whisper White and is ready to send!

For the final project I was inspired by rustic word art.  I rarely remember to stamp on DSP, but that can create such a wonderful look.  This project began by stamping the rooster in the center of a piece of Wood Textures 6x6 DSP with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I colored the rooster with Stampin’ Blends markers and then began to embellish around him.  For the rest of the images, I added in the “Time For Tea” stamp set (147069) from the 2018-19 Annual Catalog.  The Stamparatus is key to making this work, since I did a lot of omitting with the Basic Black marker and stamping with Memento Tuxedo Black.  I used nearly every stamp in the set to create this composition, which was kind of a fun challenge.  The stamped DSP was layered onto Basic Black cardstock and then onto a Bermuda Bay card base.  For a finishing touch, I added some of the new Gingham Gala Adhesive-Backed Sequins.

I had so much fun creating with the “Time to Roost” stamp set and the other FREE items from Sale-a-bration.  It really is the best time of the Stampin’ Up! year!
