Welcome to the My Inky Friends blog hop for showcasing Designer Series Paper! This year, there are many options from traditional 12x12 Designer Series Paper (DSP), to Specialty DSP, to Laser Cut Specialty Paper, to 6x6 DSP stacks – like the Wood Textures DSP that I am showcasing here.
You may have just seen Holly's Tropical Escape projects or perhaps you've been going backwards through the loop and have seen Rhonda's Classic Garage projects. Either way, this blog hop features some amazing designers.
For this series, I created with some consistent elements: all of my cards have Pacific Point cardstock, Tea Room Ribbon (146893) and the Wood Textures DSP (144177) combined in different ways.
For this card, I layered one side of a darker wood grain onto the Pacific Point Card base. I die cut the trellis from the Rose Trellis Thinlits Dies (148549) from the 2019 Occasions Catalog with Pacific Point cardstock and twined in a floral spray from the Flourish Thinlits Dies (141478) in a lighter wood grain. A knot of the ribbon finished it off.
On this card, I again used a Pacific Point cardstock base and highlighted the different wood colors and textures that are in this DSP. Four squares of different wood grain are in the background, with the ribbon tied around and knotted to the left. As the focal point, I added another wood grain, cut out using the Rose Trellis Thinlits Dies (148549), topped off with a Pacific Point rose cut from the same die pack.
This wooden elephant family was so fun to make! I used the Pacific Point cardstock base, with a layer of the a very light wood grain, and positioned three Pacific Point squares aligned vertically just right of center. I then added elephants punched with the Elephant Builder punch (145652) on each square and popped each ear up with a Stampin’ Dimensional (104430). The eyes are from a darker wood grain from the DSP and a ribbon bow finishes it off.
The last card was just having fun with the trellis die from the Rose Trellis Thinlits (148549). I die cut one trellis using the tree rings piece of DSP and, by creative cutting, formed the word “HI.” I layered this onto a horizontal wood plank piece of DSP, and on top of the same tree ring DSP piece. This was tied around three times with the ribbon and adhered to a Pacific Point cardstock base.
I had so much fun creating with the Wood Textures 6x6 DSP that I didn’t even get out any stamps or ink! I hope this gives you some ideas and makes you see how much you need this DSP in your life. In fact, I’m off to get another pack, in case it retires at the end of the catalog.
